We’re Madeleine Nance and Jeremy Nance, co-founders of our family business, Kind Word.
Our experience writing for charitable causes has taught us that a specific type is persuasion is needed to move people from caring to acting. We call it Kind Persuasion.
Our Kind Persuasion methodology is how we help nonprofits use the right messaging to connect with their supporters and raise more funds.
After spending 12 years living in Sydney, Australia, we decided to relocate to Jeremy’s hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina with our two young sons.
Madeleine (or Maddie) has been in the nonprofit sector since 2010. She’s worked with 100+ nonprofits around the globe — everything from in-house management of national fundraising campaigns to consulting support to help organizations find the words that move donors to give.
Maddie is Australian, Chinese and a New Zealander. She holds a degree in International Business and Marketing.
Maddie’s area of expertise is ‘moving hearts’ through Kind Persuasion, especially for direct response donor communications.
"Maddie is one of the best writing instructors I have ever worked with! She taught me how to "paint a picture" that invites the reader to read further and be moved."
Jeremy earned a bachelor’s degree in Film Studies with a particular focus in screenwriting and creative writing. He has worked across several industries in New York City and Sydney, including entertainment and local government, while simultaneously working with Madeleine as a writer.
Jeremy’s area of expertise is storytelling through creative writing—such as screenwriting, short stories, and video/audio scripts.
"Jeremy’s understanding and knowledge of strong emotive storytelling and ability to find ways to strike the right tone was exceptional."
